Welcome to the Schnauzer Club of Great Britain website. The SCGB was
founded in 1929.
This site is dedicated to all 3 sizes of Schnauzer;
Miniature, Standard and
Giant and gives details of forthcoming
events, a description of the breed, show
results, a section on Agility and an extensive picture gallery and
pets
corner.
The Schnauzer was first registered in Germany, where it is acknowledged to be
an ancient breed. The name comes from the German word for moustache because of
the breeds distinctive facial hair.
Kennel clubs generally subdivide the breed by size:
Minature Schnauzer
Schnauzer (often referred to as Standard Schnauzer)
Giant Schnauzer
Although derived from a common ancestor and sharing certain physical attributes
and personality traits, notably intelligence, friendly personality and a
mischievous sense of humour, the three breeds are classified differently
according to the Kennel Club breed classification system:
Minature Schnauzer - Utility
Standard Schnauzer - Utility
Giant Schnauzer - Working
